Weekly Recs Wednesday

Welcome to the strictly Gen edition folks. That means no slash will be rec'd this week. (Due to the rather untimely freak out my Open Office is doing, I'm not including the offer to make PDF's for the time being (Open office must be on it's period or something)

It's A Wonderful Life by Marianna_Morgan
Rating: T
Word Count: 9,182
Summary: AU Tag to 6.11 – Sam had his soul back, but he was...different. Less Sammy, more Rain Man. But being electrocuted – even if it was only minor – had the potential to be life-changing. Such was the case.
Rec'ers commentary: Like the summary says, it's an AU tag to 6.11, and she manages to incorporate so much heart break and angst, into one little fic without giving much away at all. The writing is powerful, Dean's character in this is very much spot on and you can't help wanting to give Sam a hug.

Tears Of A Clown by Marianna_Morgan
Rating: K+
Word Count: 3,186
Summary: Pre-series – Baby Sam, Kid Dean, Awesome Daddy John POV – Three days ago, I used to trust...and all that got me was a dead wife, a six-month old barely managing to take his next breath, and a four-year old who no longer talked.
Rec'ers commentary: Once again, such a heartbreaking look into John's head, not even a few days after the fire. It really shows to great depth the pain and grief he is going through, and how he just wants to take care of his boys.

A Marvelous Thing by KKBELVIS
Rating: K
Word Count: 1,914
Summary: Season Seven Warning! Very Short tag to 'Plucky Pennywhistle's Magical Menagerie'. That's fun to say and to type and a blast to watch. A little brotherly moment. Beat-up Sam/ worried, smartass, Dean. Rock on Supernatural!
Rec'ers commentary: A very short tag, but fills us in on the aftermath of Sam's face off with the clowns and shows how he didn't come away unscathed both physically and mentally.

X-Ray by K Hanna Korossy
Rating: T
Word Count: 3,358
Summary: No Exit prequel and tag: Sam had broken his hand once before.
Rec'ers commentary: I'm pretty sure by now we are all familiar with her numerous tags, but I particularly enjoyed this one because I love seeing fics where Dean doesn't know everything about Sam, which is really rare and I love seeing Dean's reaction to this fact.

The Color Pink by phx69
Rating: T
Word Count: 5,658
Summary: Originally published in Blood Brothers 2. Dean thought the prank was pretty funny until he went to pick Sam up after school. Two Shot.
Rec'ers commentary: Since this is strictly gen, this is highly relevant. One of the times where Sam actually isn't gay but just because one little prank went hay wire Sam pays the price for this. Lovely little tale.

The Chicago Way by lilen

Rec'ers commentary: I rec'd this on my art recs blog, but it wouldn't hurt rec'ing it here. I mean look at it! Tell me, first glance you thought this was a photo? Well guess again, it's just that beautifully drawn.

Dust by gregory-of-yardale

Rec'ers commentary: A really creepy yet symbolic almost comic like frame of Lucifer's bloody hand on top of Sam's unconscious body. It gives you chills just thinking about it, what I love the most is the blurry close ups.

Jared-Hound by blakravell

Rec'ers commentary: I mean look at this, it's Jared with a dog collar on. I mean hot damn, not to mention her detail towards his face, hair and eyes plus setting up his gorgeous skin color.

This Is Real by andlatitude

Rec'ers commentary: Obviously, a play off Season 7 and Dean trying to convince Sam of what is real. But there's something so heartbreaking about a strong man like Sam completely coming undone in Dean's arms while sobbing :C It hurts, but it's a good hurt.

Don't Cry Sammy, I'm here. by Deiriniel

Rec'ers commentary: As cute as cute can get, I love the bright colors and sorta hard line style of this drawing. I find Sam and Dean's faces to be the absolute cutest which is what really makes this drawing.
